2018-19 Anaheim Lady Ducks Tier 1 Coaches and Tryouts
The Lady Ducks are pleased to announce their Tier 1 coaches, as well as the dates, times and locations for tryouts for the 2018-19 season. All Tier 1 tryouts will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 11-13 .
The Lady Ducks are coming off one of the most successful seasons in the program’s 19-year history. A program-record five teams – including AAA teams at the 19U, 16U and 14U levels – reached the USA Hockey Youth Nationals. That also was the most of any club in the United States. This marked the 16th year the Lady Ducks have sent teams to Nationals, and in the club’s history more than 35 teams have gone to the heavily scouted tournament.
The Lady Ducks also were honored that one of their alumni, Cayla Barnes, represented Team USA on the gold-medal-winning team at the Winter Olympic Games at PyeongChang, South Korea in February. Another former Lady Duck, Annie Pankowski, has represented Team USA at the Women’s World Championships multiple times. Five former Lady Ducks have played at the Women’s 18U World Championships as well.
Additionally, four more girls made college commitments this season, bringing the club’s total to more than 125 during its existence. Every senior in the program is committed to a college for the fourth year in a row – three 19Us are headed to Division I programs, four are committed to Division III schools and another to an ACHA program. And, a junior on a 19U team also is committed to a D-I school. Lady Ducks AAA players are three times more likely to attend a four-year university as student-athletes than other programs in USA Hockey. College-bound AA players also receive support through the club’s college prep staff to get into Division III and ACHA programs that fit their academic goals and athletic compete level.
