2018 MLK Girls Ice Hockey Tournament

Great Effort at the 2018 MLK Girls Ice Hockey Tournament in San Jose!

Impressive!! There isn't much more to say. 8U-2 is getting better and better, competing against teams who are 1-2 years older, even winning a few games. 8U-1 were undefeated in the Mite Division. 10A and 10B were finalists in their respective divisions. 10A lost to the LA Lions and 10B lost to the Tri Valley Blue Devils. This is considered a great weekend for our younger teams! Your development and progress is showing!

Lady Ducks 16AA take the Championship at the Jr Sharks MLK tournament. Great work girls!

12AA played hard and well in their division but lost in the final against the Canadian Richmond Ravens. 12AAA...it's always tough to play UP a division, yet they played fantastic! Their only loss was to the Lady Ducks 14AA in an exciting, high-paced semi-final. 14AA moved on to the final but lost to Canadian Vancouver Angels, who dropped down a division for this event. Our 19U high school team, a combination of 14U and 19U players, competed UP a division from last fall and, as a team, they've improved so much.

Lady Ducks 16AAA beat North Shore Avalanche 5-1 to win the Championships at Jr. Sharks MLK Tournament.

Lady Ducks 16AAA beat North Shore Avalanche 5-1 to win the Championships at Jr. Sharks MLK Tournament.

14AAA played UP in the 17AA division and faced our own in a 14AAA vs. 16AA semi-final. After an intense game and shootout, 16AA moved on to the final. 16AA kept that competitive spirit and WON the Championship against the San Jose Jr. Sharks Girls! Lastly, the 16AAA dominated the 17AAA division and WON the Championship against the North Shore Avalanche.

It's a great feeling to be so successful at this tournament. But let's not focus on the wins. Let's focus on the growth of each player and each team. The Lady Ducks program is focused on player development and that's where we're successful. I watched every team play and I can see improvements since our season began in August.

Great work by all the teams, managers, and coaches for a successful weekend! But most importantly, a BIG THANK YOU to all the parents, family members, friends, coaches, managers and players for traveling to San Jose for a fun and competitive weekend!

Coach Kathy
